I was given an old laptop that was in need of a new purpose. I few random clicks on the Internet and a few purposeful minutes searching led me to SimplyMepis, I found a book called 'Point & Click Linux!" by Robin Miller. I paid about £7.00

The book came with a live CD which fired up no problem and then installed to the Hard Drive.

There was nothing wrong with Mepis except that the version I used was out of date and my thirst for knowledge had taken me to puppy which seemed to be a more appropriate distro for the laptop, so that was that for Mepis.

Maybe one day I'll revisit Mepis, but for now please remember its the one that really got me started.
